Get involved with the 1 Campaign for type 1 awareness

To raise awareness of type 1 diabetes in Parliament the type 1 community must engage with politicians. Get involved today so we can tell government why increased investment in type 1 diabetes research is crucial.

One voice from the type 1 community

JDRF will campaign until our voice is heard, but we know we can be much louder with the voices of the thousands of people affected by type 1 diabetes in the UK behind. This is why we need you to help us raise the political profile of type 1 diabetes in the UK.

Better funding for type 1 diabetes research

The best way to make this happen is by contacting your MP and other politicians.  There are lots of ways you can do this and JDRF will be happy to help with any questions you have or advice you might need. Arranging a meeting with your MP so you can highlight your own personal story is a great way to get their attention.

If you can’t do this then simply sending them a letter and requesting that they ask the Minister for Universities and Science and the Secretary of State for Health to increase funding for type 1 diabetes will make a difference. You can find template letters on our Contact your MP page. If JDRF and the wider type 1 community all speak, government will have no choice but to listen.

Type 1 Parliament 2012

JDRF's mass lobbying event, Type 1 Parliament, took place on 25 April 2012.  At this event adults and children with type 1 diabetes traveled to Westminster to lobby MPs to increase investment into type 1 medical research. Although Type 1 Parliament has now taken place you can still get involved

Raising awareness of type 1 diabetes

Anyone can get involved, however much time you have to spare. While we would love it if everyone could meet with their MP or sign up to a case study, simply sending a tweet to the Health Secretary, participating in our online poll, or signing the online petition will help us collectively raise awareness of type 1 diabetes.
