FREE support and information packs for primary and secondary schools

The "Talking T1" packs for primary and secondary schools have been designed and developed in conjunction with parents, teachers and health professionals.  Enabling school staff, teachers, and school nurses to understand the needs of children with type 1 diabetes in the classroom.

The “Talking T1” secondary school pack contains:

  • Online day in the life film of two teenagers with type 1 diabetes.
  • Downloadable resources for teachers, school nurses and SENCOs.
  • Printed curriculum-linked discussion and activity plans
  • Teacher guide and procedure templates for managing type 1 in school
  • Student card – to quickly let teachers know about a student’s type 1 diabetes
  • Additional content on the T1 Schools website

New download! Diabetes guidelines for schools, colleges and early years settings

A free downloadable 28-page guideline for supporting children with type 1 diabetes in school. Compiled by Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse Claire Pesterfield, and East of England Children and Young People's Diabetes Network Co-ordinator Kate Wilson. The downloadable PDF also includes an individualised healthcare plan devised by the North West Children and Young People's Diabetes Network, led by Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse Sandra Singleton and Network Co-ordinator Margot Carson.
