The sun shone for those pounding the streets of Britain’s capital in this year’s Virgin London Marathon. Thanks to the 160 runners who made it to the finish line in support of JDRF, we have collected £247,157.61 to date, which means JDRF is on course to raise £450,000 from the race, which will be a new record for the charity.
JDRF would like to say a genuine thank you to all who took on the challenge to run the gruelling 26.2 miles. A special thank you goes to the team who ran as the Flintstones. By running dressed up as the cartoon characters, the group has raised £51,530 for research into type 1 diabetes to date.
You may have also heard several people running for JDRF on television and radio explaining their reasons for supporting JDRF and raising money for research into type 1 during BBC’s coverage of the race.
If you watched the race over the weekend and have been inspired to join JDRF’s Team Pingu and run the marathon in 2012, you can sign up now! JDRF has a limited number of guaranteed places in this event. Registration is free and we ask you to commit to raising a minimum of £1,750. To apply for a place please call Jon at JDRF on 0207 713 2032.
