Lots of you have been busy over the past few months, organising your own events and getting involved with various fundraising activities for JDRF. We would like to say a big thank you to all those who have taken part and helped to raise funds for type 1 diabetes research.

We're putting together a special page to thank everyone who has Gone Blue for JDRF. If you have any photos of your Blue fundraising please send them to us at info@jdrf.org.uk with Blue as the subject!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Big Give. So many of you took part we smashed our fundraising target within 2 hours on the first day the site was up and running. With matched funding you have raised a fantastic £50,000!

A big thank you to the families of CWD for once again producing their Faces that Live with Juvenile Diabetes calendar. By doubling their donation through the Big Give and with some matched funding from employers they have raised over £5000! Thanks to Jo Dury, Joy and Steve Newton, Sabrina Dawe, Helen Campling and the whole CWD family.

Thank you so much to Monica, Kate, Jennifer, Stephanie and Hilary who tackled Britain’s Highest Mountain, the Ben Nevis and raised a tremendous £2340.00

A special mention to Princess Callie Walk Team who continued fundraising after the walk day and have now raised a total of £1080. Well done Julie, Callie, Lee and Sam.

The Shetland Walk to Cure Diabetes was, as usual, a phenomenal success – this year it raised £4,000! Special thanks to Sandra Summers and Lynn Fraser and all the Shetland Walkers and sponsors for taking part in this event. Thank you to the staff and parents of Cunningsburgh Primary School in Shetland took part as an entire school, raising over £800.  Thank you also to Caroline Laurenson from Shetland for collecting £231.14. 

Thank you to the Lindsay car cyclists who rode 120 miles in one day and raised £3675 towards the Ford’s target of raising £100k this year!

Roseanna Massie and her family and friends raised an incredible £2051.10 from a jumble sale in Peterculter, Aberdeen.

Charlie Symonds joined the craze that is Movember managing to raise an amazing total of £2,038.00 by not shaving for the month of November

Lisa Lawson and Colin Lawson Transport organised a float in Aberdeen’s Christmas light parade and invited local children and families to take part in the celebrations.  This was a magical evening! Thanks so much for making it happen.

Thank you to David Rough for running the Great Scottish Run and raised £800. Thank you for all your hard work and training!  David’s daughter Donna Rough raised £1200 from a Halloween fundraising evening in Glasgow.

Thank you to Sharon West and Fraser Bowie for organising the Christmas Wishes Fayre in Peterhead in support of JDRF which was attended by more than 600 people.

Usk Vale Wheelers in Wales raised a fantastic £1,170 from a sponsored 100 mile cycle ride. Thank you to all the riders who took part!

A huge thanks to the Walker family, from Stockport, who raised over £2000 after organising a football tournament for Louis aged 10 who has type 1.

A very big thank you to Dilan and Jay Shah who recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and raised over £5000 for JDRF. Dilan has type 1 diabetes and said on completing the challenge: 'It was honestly the hardest thing we have ever done but well worth it. For me this was achieving a dream.' Congratulations to them both!
 
Congratulations to Ian & Beth Whitworth who completed their latest Challenge event with their friend Vanessa Hamilton by cycling 280miles with a climb of over 20,000 ft in Death Valley, Nevada.
 
Well done to Louisa Stringer who successfully completed trekking 108km in just 4 days in the Sahara Desert, and has raised over £3,000 so far.
 
Thank you to friends Katherine Caris-Harris and Jen Berridge for completing their Cycle Vietnam challenge. This is Katherine's 2nd completed in 2011 for JDRF after her London to Paris Cycle earlier this year, and in doing so has raised over £6,500.
 
A massive thank you to Chris Southwell who recently took part in his first ever Iron Man triathlon in Mexico, an incredible feat of endurance. Chris is a professional snowboarder with type 1 diabetes, using this challenge to inspire and educate other people with type 1 diabetes.

An extra special thank you goes to Russell Toms and the The Champion of Sports Knowledge Teams form Dogmersfield and Church Crookhams who have raised a fabulous £3200 for JDRF though their unique Sports predictions quiz.

Thank you to Helen Adam Smith and her brilliant committee for raising a staggering £12,200 form their fashion show.

The Emsworth Afternoon Flower Club have been hard at work all year creating beautiful displays and raising money. Their hard work has raised a beautiful £1800.

A really big thank you to all our Great South Runners who have raised a fabulous £ 8725 to date with more coming in by the day. We are really proud of our participants this year as we had our largest ever field of runners - well done all!

Thank you to Sheila Thomas from Andover who asked Friends and family to donate to JDRF in lieu of gifts for their Golden wedding anniversary. To date JDRF have received a fabulous £480

Kelly Upton and her daughter Lucy invited Stapleford Primary School to Go Blue in a big way and managed to raise £250 for JDRF. A special thanks to 8 year old Lucy who helped raise awareness of JDRF by doing short talk about type 1!

A huge thank you to Amada Brown and her family who raised £500 by dancing the night away at their family charity disco in aid of JDRF

A huge thanks to Kathryn Wilkinson who hosted a Pampered Chef party and managed to raise a total of £220.

Thank you to Elena Bartram who raised a grand total of £376.76 through her concerts at Christ Church Southgate

Philippa McCarthy-Labbe baked up a frenzy raising £311.17 by selling her home made sweet treats. Leah Stanford has also been busy in the kitchen selling sugar free cup cakes at her son's school and raising £280 for JDRF.

Dave Beattie held a Halloween Fancy Dress fundraising gig at Aberdeen’s Malt Mill and raised a brilliant £900. Congratulation to David Beattie (Dave’s Dad) for raising £186.86  at his 80th Birthday Celebrations. Well Done to the father and son fundraising team.

We were delighted that Subsea 7 raised £640 through a client golf event. Thank to all involved.


Kaye Sparrow, who was diagnosed earlier this year aged 9 has raised £457, which included a raffle and a non uniform day at her school.

Andrew Fleetwood for donating £250 from 50th birthday party for Samuel Rowbotham, aged 12 who was diagnosed in July 2010.

Many thanks to Sheila Duguid for donating £220 raised for her surprise birthday party.
Thank you to Ms Lesley-Anne Munro and all at Portlethen Primary School for their kind donation of  £200.

Julie Crookes whose son has type 1 raised £343 at a 'play the blues' for diabetes gig.

Ashville School Prep School in Harrogate and Dalton St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Cumbria went blue for the day raising £162 and £231 respectively.

John and Geraldine Millichip from Wiltshire donated £215 to JDRF in lieu of Golden Wedding Anniversary presents. Thank you both for thinking of JDRF on your special anniversary!

A massive thank you to Jog Scotland Peterhead and Stephen Bruce for organising the Halloween Glow in the Dark Fun Run and raising over £600. Thank you again for all of your efforts!

Thank you to all the staff and pupils at St Nicholas CofE Primary School in Radstock, Bath raised £207.46 for JDRF on World Diabetes Day.

Well done to Nick Taylor who sped around Pulse 3k at The Royal Park and raised £100 for JDRF.

We were delighted to hear that Pauline Davey and the pupils of Albyn’s School 5 Junior Class held a successful Disney themed fundraising event and raised. £120.67. 

A huge thanks to the Buchan Family for holding a family reunion in aid of JDRF and collecting £80.

Thank you to all the members of the Soroptimist International of Mansfield and District who donated £150 to JDRF.

A big thank you to Tricia Gordon and colleagues from Talisman for collecting £103.40 in lieu of a leaving gift for former work mate Iain Mackenzie. 

Thank you so much to William Grant and Ye Corporation Squaremen Buchan Shed No 4. for their generous donation of £175.

June Wherry from Midsomer Norton in Bath sold homemade crafts at her local Christmas Fare in aid of JDRF raising £150, thank you June!

Viv Jones from Llanelli took on the mighty challenge of the Snowdonia Marathon for JDRF raising £531.50

Chuter Ede Primary School in Newark, Nottinghamshire raised £300 for JDRF on World Diabetes Day.

Play Station Nursery in Bristol raised £137.40 by holding a Body Shop Party and Staff Raffle

Stella Sass decorated her house in blue lights for a coffee morning at her home raising £160. Her grandson Matthew, aged 8 has type 1.

All the friends and family got behind Katie Rose’s fundraising making biscuits, Christmas cards, with a guess the weight of the cake and name the teddy, raising £178.

Faith Lee age 5 was diagnosed with type 1 in May this year. Her mum and grandma baked over 250 blue cakes raising £120 at Glazebury C of E school in Cheshire.
