Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, which means that the immune system mistakenly attacks the beta cells that make insulin. Without these beta cells the body can no longer produce insulin, so as a person with type 1 diabetes you must take on board insulin through injections or pump infusions. JDRF scientists are working on how to grow new beta cells from stem cells. Help us to grow beta cells, and give the hope that they bring.
