  • Peace of mind

If you are a parent of a child with type 1 the worry does not stop even when your child is safely tucked up in bed. The fear of night time hypoglycaemia means many parents wake in the middle of the night to test their child’s blood glucose in order to keep them safe. JDRF is working on an artificial pancreas which can help regulate blood glucose. Clinical trials have already shown that the system reduces the risk of night time hypos. Help us complete this project and allow us to offer peace of mind to parents of children with type 1.

  • Grow a beta cell

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, which means that the immune system mistakenly attacks the beta cells that make insulin. Without these beta cells the body can no longer produce insulin, so as a person with type 1 diabetes you must take on board insulin through injections or pump infusions. JDRF scientists are working on how to grow new beta cells from stem cells. Help us to grow beta cells, and give the hope that they bring.
